ERP Planning & Configuration Control
The Job
The ERP Planner & Configuration Controller is responsible for end-to-end planning within a manufacturing environment. From creating/approving parts and master data in the ERP system including routings & BOMs, scheduling work orders, right through to receipting the finished product. Working closely with other departments including engineering, procurement & logistics to ensure that materials are available, and schedules are met. This role is also key to maintaining MRP accuracy, through accurate planning data, and use of MRP reporting.
Reporting into the Head Of Operations, we will look to you to co-ordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to weekly production schedules.
The role itself will require a high level of attention to detail, and will comprise of the core requirements:
- Create and maintain master data within the ERP system, ensuring effective configuration control is maintained
- Create and maintain production, work, and shipment schedules and prioritise work orders for production optimization
- Work closely with engineering, quality & production to ensure correct BOM configuration of the machine is being manufactured and any concessions are tracked effectively for traceability.
- Controlling documentation and revisions in production
- Ensure that correct materials, equipment and capacity is available to ensure production schedules are met
- Follow-up as required with all teams to expedite flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectation
- Complete status reports and data analysis to review and evaluate production progress, work in process, and raw material inventory and finished goods demand
- Improvement in areas of cost reduction, processes, quality and productivity
- Evaluating purchase orders to create suitable production schedules
- Estimating the amount of material, equipment availability and labour required for production
- Effecting changes to production schedules to ensure that production deadlines are met
- Promptly informing the relevant departments of changes to current production schedules
- Confer with departmental stakeholders to determine progress of work and completion dates; inventory levels and solving production problems

- Be punctual and reliable – ensure that you turn up to work on time and record accurately time taken for jobs using the MRP system
- Engage with management of tasks in the MRP system
- Contribute towards continuous improvement activities and process improvements
- Ensure workplace is kept tidy and in line with operations 5S
- Assist wider company teams as required
- Engage with machine development activities and innovation
- Be proactive in seeking out training and development
Skills / Experience
- Developing ERP / MRP Systems to support both organisation objectives, growth & delivery of complex electromechanical projects
- Strong MRP knowledge
- Production planning and quality control principles
- Manufacturing Environment, Experience of precision engineering and assembly operations, equipment and capabilities is desirable
- Analysing production & assembly methods (from a PP perspective) to ensure lead times and budgets are being fulfilled
- Training/Experience in Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous/preferred.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and strong ERP / MRP systems knowledge
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Able to identify and resolve problems using MRP actions.
- PC literate - capable user of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication abilities
- A capable Planner with a ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to support the business needs
- Ability to adapt and respond effectively to changes
