Project Manager
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Project/Programme Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in managing internal projects alongside externally funded projects, including partnerships with Innovate UK, the UK Space Agency, European-based funding bodies, and EPSRC. You'll oversee stakeholder relationships, programme schedules, and risk management while safeguarding confidentiality, GDPR compliance, and intellectual property.
As a core liaison between our internal departments alongside external partners, you'll interact with senior leadership and working-level teams to deliver innovative projects aligned with funding requirements and organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule Management
- Collaborate with internal delivery teams to develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules.
- Utilise tools such as MS Project and Trello to manage work package breakdowns and critical path analyses.
- Communication and Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, managing communications between internal and external parties.
- Ensure effective collaboration and relationship management with Innovate UK, universities, and other funding bodies.
- Maintain and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including university leaders and engineering teams.
- Progress Reporting
- Coordinate programme reporting, including quarterly meetings with participants, monitoring officers, and Innovate UK leads.
- Lead progress reporting through the Innovate UK Funding Service (IFS) portal.
- Record Keeping
- Maintain comprehensive records of meetings, communications, and programme changes, ensuring compliance with GDPR and IP protection.
- Track deliverables and milestones to guarantee project success.
- Risk Management
- Create and maintain risk matrices for each programme, ensuring active mitigation and minimal impact on deliverables.
- Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Financial Management
- Partner with the financial team to develop and communicate financial plans and summaries.
- Manage budgets, financial reporting, and projections for external funding agencies.
- Proposal Development
- Contribute to the preparation of proposals for customer-funded development programmes, including schedules, financial plans, and risk profiles.
- Engage with external stakeholders to identify and secure new business opportunities.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in project planning and resource management within a dynamic tech or engineering startup.
- Familiarity with engineering disciplines, particularly Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Electronics, or Additive Manufacturing.
- Proven experience in coordinating across engineering teams to track progress against project plans.
- Skilled in project planning tools and methodologies, including multi-team project plans.
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidentiality and intellectual property in high-stakes projects.
- Experience with Innovate UK financial templates and funding services is highly desirable.
